Chet Doxas is a Montreal based saxophonist and composer who is often called upon for his ability to bring his unique voice to a number of different musical settings. Chet leads his own quartet which includes Matt Stevens on guitar, Zack Lober on bass and Eric Doob on drums. He also co-leads a group, Riverside, with trumpeter, Dave Douglas, which features Steve Swallow on bass and his brother Jim Doxas on drums. He is currently a touring member of the multi-award winning, Sam Roberts Band, and has performed or recorded alongside a diverse range of artists including, John Abercrombie, Dave Binney, Rufus Wainwright, Oliver Jones, and Maria Schneider. He has released two CD’s with his quartet for Justin Time records. His second album, Big Sky, earned him a Juno nomination for contemporary jazz album of the year.
Chet has composed for a wide range of ensembles including, orchestra, chamber ensembles, big bands and small jazz groups. Chet Doxas is a member of the part-time faculty at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music where he teaches private students and small ensembles. Chet’s work can be heard on over eighty recordings, many of which have been nominated for Juno, Grammy and Academy awards. Chet is a RICO reeds artist.
